Senge Tsewai Tsoklay Chöd

This is a recording of the nuns of the Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery performing the Chöd ritual called The Lion's Play [Seng-ge rNam.par rTse.wa].

The practice of Chöd or "Cutting Through the Ego", was propagated in Tibet during the 11th century by the yogini Machig Labdrön and is basically a spiritual practice based on the Prajñaparamita or Perfection of Wisdom sutras. Eliz’s Jewellery helps DGL

Eliz's JewellryAs many people know, Eliz Dowling has been responsible for the financial and international administration of DGL since 1999 when Tenzin Palmo first established the Dongyu Gatsal Ling Trust. She has now stepped back from her full-time commitment as systems are in place to manage DGL’s affairs from the Nunnery office in India . Eliz continues to oversee Nunnery finances on her twice yearly visits to DGL and her dedication to the Nunnery continues.

However, with more available time Eliz is putting her jewellery-making hobby to good use and has established her own website with all profits going to DGL. Please visit and buy at www.eliz-lushbeads.co.uk.

Lama Chodpa the Natural Handmade Tibetan Incense

Lama ChodpaThis high quality Tibetan incense is made in the nearby craft community of Tashi Jong by ‘Friends of Nub Gon Monastery’, a registered NGO based in Himachal Pradesh. The organization has been working to improve the livelihood and develop awareness of environmental issues, education and health for the community since 2002.

The Lama Chodpa natural Tibetan incense is hand prepared using thirty one medicinal herbs and plants grown naturally in the Himalayas and other natural precious substances and is made by following a recipe from a previous Khamtrul Rinpoche who was acknowledged as a great healer. The process of making the incense strictly adheres to Tibetan tradition and only the purest possible substances, some of which have been blessed, are used in exact proportions. The carefully dried ingredients are individually ground (using a pestle and mortar), blended by hand, mixed into a paste which is squeezed into 5 or 8 inch lengths and then dried. The incense is hand packed in protective cardboard tubing enveloped in screen printed hand-made paper and wax sealed using an auspicious sign seal.
